Products Aim to Make Working in Bed More Comfortable; Chicago Lawyer Is a Convert

If you like to work from bed, there are products available to make your extended work life more comfortable.
The Wall Street Journal (sub. req.) covers the options. There is a two-part adjustable bed by Reverie with outlets for those who need to plug in. E.S. Kluft & Co. makes a bed that is bigger than king size, with separate adjustments for both sides, so couples can spread out their work. A Pyramid Pillow by Levenger.com allows workers to prop up their tablet, while a folding bed tray by Furinno will hold a laptop.
Chicago lawyer David Spiegel bought an adjustable Reverie model six months ago, enabling him to check and send emails several nights a week, the story says. He tells the newspaper the ritual helps him to “catch up and make sure everything is buttoned up, so I know I’m going into the next day prepared.”
The story cites evidence that more people are working in bed, including a survey by Good Technology. Half of the 1,000 workers polled by the mobile-security software company said they read or reply to emails in bed. “Researchers who study work habits say a new generation reared on mobile devices is increasingly accustomed to using them while propped against pillows, lying down or in a fetal curl,” the article says.
Ergonomics and sleep experts, however, caution that the trend can interfere with sleep and cause body aches.
