Prosecutor Claims She Was Also Sexually Abused by Accused Riverside Park Rapist
A lawyer for a man accused of raping a tourist in New York’s Riverside Park says another woman has come forward complaining of sexual abuse—and she is an assistant district attorney.
Lawyer Howard Simmons told reporters that the prosecutor wasn’t raped, but her allegations against his client, Hugues Akassy, are “of a sexual nature,” according to the New York Daily News and the New York Post. He didn’t say whether she worked in Manhattan.
The prosecutor isn’t the only professional woman to come forward. Comedian and reporter Mandy Stadtmiller wrote a New York Post column three years ago about a date with a man she called “Mr. Whip It Out.” In a new column, Stadtmiller turns serious, saying she realizes the man who is now accused of rape was the same person she wrote about. She says he acted aggressively and tried to “guilt” her into sex during a walk in Central Park on their first and only date.
Simmons contends Akassy had sex with the woman he is accused of raping, but it was consensual. Simmons says Akassy brought a blanket, wine and flowers to the date. He claims to be a homeless French TV reporter.
