Prosecutor Fired for 'Outrageous Abuse' of Pressuring Police to Arrest Then-Fiance's Ex-Wife
A longtime California prosecutor has been fired from her $142,328-a-year job for allegedly using her influence as a deputy Santa Clara district attorney to try to influence police to prosecute her then-fiance’s ex-wife over a squabble that involved a cellphone.
Lisa Rogers, 48, denies that she did anything wrong and has petitioned the county’s personnel board for reinstatement, the Mercury News reports. While she could still draw a pension at age 50 even if she does not regain her job, she would lose free medical benefits if the termination is upheld.
DA Jeff Rosen called the incident involving the cellphone an “outrageous abuse” of Rogers’ influence as a prosecutor.
Rogers had previously been disciplined in other matters during her 13-year career in the DA’s office, as the Mercury News article details.
