A Georgia prosecutor who was shot multiple times by her estranged husband in April says she will be back in the courtroom one day, though she doesn’t know when it will happen.

April McConnell is still in rehab for injuries that have left her unable to walk, WSB-TV Atlanta reports. She is working to develop arm strength and hopes to walk again, though doctors have said it is unlikely. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution noted her comments.

“My prognosis is from my God,” she told the broadcast station on Wednesday. “My prognosis is I will walk again.”

McConnell is a Fulton County prosecutor. She was shot April 25 while sitting in a car with Levon Hailey, who was also shot. Hailey’s mother said in May that her son was still in the hospital, but expects to make a full recovery, WABE.com reported.

After the shooting, McConnell’s husband, Trenard McConnell, shot and killed himself. McConnell said her husband was not abusive during their marriage, but he changed after their separation in January.
