For the second time in a year or so, Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan has raided Allen & Overy to set up a new office in Germany.

This time, Nadine Herrmann, formerly A&O’s local intellectual property practice group chief, led an 11-attorney group to Quinn, where they are now resident, as of Monday, in the firm’s new Hamburg office, Legal Week reports. She also specializes in antitrust matters.

Last year, Quinn also looked to A&O for a partner to establish its Mannheim office, which now has nine lawyers.

The firm expects to open an office in Munich later in 2012, the legal publication notes. Launches in Switzerland and in either Hong Kong or Singapore also are expected at some point down the road.

“We represent many of the world’s leading technology companies. In today’s world, big IP disputes are global. Any major patent dispute includes an EU component,” said John Quinn, the firm’s managing partner. “Germany is the epicenter of EU patent litigation. The EU is at the forefront of antitrust implications of patent litigation.”
