Recruiter Sees Uptick in Associate Hires at California Firms
Southern California legal recruiter Delia Swan is hearing from more law firms seeking to hire experienced associates.
Swan told the Recorder that, at the beginning of the year, she might go a week without a job call from law firms. The market is getting better now, she said, particularly for associates with three to six years of experience. Hot practice areas are energy, environmental, intellectual property litigation, health care and regulatory compliance matters.
“Firms are starting to call us,” Swan told the publication. “Almost every day I get new jobs.”
She added that the job picture is still bleak for new grads, and says she is still hearing from laid-off lawyers, especially those at smaller firms.
