Report: 6 Partners Exit Lytal Reiter With 1 Hour's Notice
In a dramatic departure from South Florida plaintiffs firm Lytal Reiter Clark Fountain & Williams, six partners, headed by 25-year firm veteran Mark Clark, exited with only an hour’s notice, reports the Daily Business Review.
The group, which includes two other name partners of their now-former firm, also took office staff with them and say they are going to try to recruit more troops from Lytal Reiter, according to the article. At last report, the defection left Lytal Reiter with 12 attorneys.
However, the split has prompted Lake Lytal Jr., who retired in 2008, to return to the helm this week, reports the Palm Beach Post.
“He came back because he wanted stability, and he wanted everyone to know we’ll continue for another 25 years, if not longer,” Joseph Reiter tells the Post. “We lost six partners, but this firm is continuing. We had a big change, but we’ll adapt.”
Lytal says the defectors tried without success to lure the firm’s top associates into leaving, the Daily Business Review reports.
Joe Ankus, of Ankus Consulting in Weston, predicts further fireworks:
“When you go in and give one hour’s notice that you’re leaving after 25 years, that’s not a good start,” he tells the business publication. “I’m sure both sides have lawyered up.”
The new firm will be known as Clark Fountain La Vista Prather Keen & Littky-Rubin.
