The owner of Mercadito probably doesn’t really believe anyone is likely to sue the Chicago restaurant over its super-hot cocktail, the Vato Loco.

But in an apparent marketing ploy to promote the $12 drink as the “Hottest Cocktail on Earth,” those who order it must sign a liability waiver, reports the Stew blog of the Chicago Tribune.

Among its provisions: “I am aware that participating in this activity can result in serious tearing of the eyes, a severe burning sensation on the tongue … and possible fire shooting out of the mouth.”

The drink is recommended for those who might otherwise be tempted to over-imbibe today when celebrating Cinco de Mayo, the newspaper says, because one in all likelihood will be more than enough. It contains tequila, rum, pineapple and various chile peppers.
