Women over age 60 who prefer dresses to pants can look to a fictional law firm partner as a role model.
“Ask Teri” of the Wall Street Journal (sub. req.) says the Christine Baranski character in The Good Wife, who plays a 60-something law firm partner, has a good look. “She wears bold necklaces and brooches that make her simple dresses (just envision them a little longer) look sensational,” the column advises.
‘Ask Teri’ also suggests empire dresses (as long as they “don’t billow like a nightgown”) in upscale brands like Etro, Lafayette 148, Akris, Eskandar and Alberta Ferretti. Sleeveless dresses can be altered to include a chiffon sleeve, or can be camouflaged with kimono-sleeve cardigan sweaters.
