Former U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore.

Failed U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore has sued three accusers who claimed he pursued inappropriate relationships with them when they were teenage girls and another woman who accused him of groping her as she was leaving his law office in 1991.

The suit, filed in state court in Etowah County, Alabama, claims the women defamed him and conspired to ruin his Senate campaign, report the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Associated Press and AL.com. A fifth defendant is a brother of a Washington Post columnist who is alleged to have “conveyed false and malicious information” to the newspaper.

One of the accusers, Leigh Corfman, released a statement that said she “stands by the accuracy of every one of her statements” about Moore’s pursuit of her when she was 14 years old. Another accuser, Tina Johnson, also reaffirmed her comments in a statement by her lawyer.

Corfman had filed a defamation suit against Moore in January that claimed he defamed her by denying her allegations.
