Scolded by Another Federal Judge, 'Birther' Lawyer Orly Taitz Blames Court Clerk for Bad Filing
A California lawyer known for failed “birther” litigation against President Barack Obama that resulted in a $20,000 sanction from a U.S. District Court judge in Georgia has now irritated another member of the federal bench in the nation’s capital, according to the Orange County Register.
Attorney Orly Taitz “is either toying with the court or displaying her own stupidity,” wrote U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth yesterday in a memorandum and order (PDF) striking Taitz’s filing because of repeated violations of a civil procedure rule that requires litigants not to include full social security numbers in pleadings.
Taitz, who this time around is seeking information from the Social Security Administration concerning a claim that Obama has used the social security numbers of other individuals, included full social security numbers and redacted only the last four digits of social security numbers, the judge said. She was supposed to include only the last four digits and redact the rest of the social security numbers.
“After making the somewhat hysterical claim in her motion for reconsideration that there may be ‘an employee in this court, who is intentionally sabotaging’ her, plaintiff engaged the court’s courtroom deputy clerk in a lengthy, accusatory conversation,” Lamberth wrote. “There is no logical explanation she can provide as to why she is now wasting the court’s time, as well as staff’s time, with these improper redactions.”
Lamberth said he hadn’t sanctioned Taitz only because the Social Security Administration didn’t request that she be penalized.
