In an extraordinary stroke of luck, a Washington lottery ticket purchased by an office pool at a small Seattle law firm has won the $6.8 million jackpot.
Members of Josal Partners were stunned to read in the Seattle Times one recent morning that they had purchased a top prize-winning ticket, reports a Washington State Lottery press release included in a West Seattle Blog post today.
"Incredulity would sum up the reaction," said managing partner John Gose, according to the release. It doesn't say how many people are splitting the jackpot, or whether he plans to continue practicing law.
"The win has provided funds that would not have otherwise been available," says Gose. "The money will be going toward paying off debts and providing education for children and grandchildren.”
