A Seattle law raising the minimum wage for workers in the city to $15 got a green light on Monday from the nation’s top court.

The U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear a franchise group’s challenge to the worker pay raise imposed by Seattle, which is in the forefront of a national push to increase the minimum wage, reports Reuters.

The International Franchise Association and other businesses didn’t challenge the overall minimum-wage hike. However, they argued that the Seattle law was unfair because it treated franchises as big businesses while giving small businesses more time to implement the pay raise.

The Associated Press and the Wall Street Journal (sub. req.) also have stories.
