Securities and Exchange Commission attorney J. Kevin Edmundson pleaded no contest this week to a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest that stemmed from a clash with Fort Worth police officers in April 2009 that landed one officer a punch in the eye.

Edmundson was given six months of deferred adjudication, and the arrest will be wiped off the records if he stays out of trouble, the Star-Telegram reported.

Edmundson, the associate director of the SEC’s regional office in Fort Worth, is on the team prosecuting Texas billionaire R. Allen Stanford, who is accused of running a multibillion-dollar fraud through investment businesses. When asked Thursday whether the SEC would take any disciplinary action, spokesman John Nester told the newspaper that the matter was still under review. Edmundson would not comment, the Star-Telegram reports. The newspaper could not reach Edmundson’s attorney, Tim Moore, for comment.
