In a subpoena-filled day on Capitol Hill, Democrats decided to call U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to appear before a House panel next month to explain why the country went to war in Iraq.

By a 21-10 vote, Democrats on the the Oversight and Government Reform Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives voted to subpoena Rice to testify about the Bush administration’s justifications for the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003, Reuters reports.

Democrats elsewhere on the Hill also issued a number of subpoenas in the ongoing investigation of the controversial firings of eight U.S. attorneys. For details, see this earlier ABAJournal.com post.
