Attorney Helen Crockett knew she was in trouble as soon as she saw the two men outside her law office, just before 9 p.m.

She tried to run, but was grabbed within seconds, she says. Then, although they told her they had a knife and demanded her handbag and the keys to her BMW Z4, she refused to give them up, according to the Daily Mail.

“I fought back in the same way that I fight for my clients,” says Crockett, a British solicitor who heads a family law practice in Leeds.

Security camera footage shows Crockett being dragged down the street in work attire and hit repeatedly as she holds onto her handbag. The Sept. 23 attack was interrupted, and the men ran off when a motorist drove up. But just when Crockett thought it was over, one man came back and grabbed her keys—though not her car—the newspaper recounts.

During the attack, she was afraid she was going to be killed, Crockett tells the Yorkshire Evening Post. But she didn’t give up the fight.

“You hear that this sort of thing goes on, but when it happens to you it’s just terrible,” she said, adding: “It was really traumatic, but I don’t want to become a victim because of it. I’m just really angry.”

A unidentified 15-year-old boy was arrested and released on bail, and an investigation is continuing.
