The Senate has confirmed six federal judicial nominees, part of a deal to address a backlog of 27 nominees.

Among those confirmed is Jennifer Zipps, a magistrate judge elevated to the federal district court in Arizona, according to The BLT: The Blog of Legal Times. She will succeed slain U.S. District Judge John Roll, who was killed in the Tucson shooting that wounded congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.

Also confirmed was U.S. District Judge Henry Floyd, who will join the Richmond, Va.-based 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, McClatchy Newspapers reports.

Thomson Reuters News & Insight and Main Justice also have stories on the confirmations.
