Seven Haynes and Boone Partners Move to Akin Gump
Seven partners from Haynes and Boone in Dallas are moving to Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld in the same city.
Tom Yang, Garrett DeVries and Matt Zmigrosky will join Akin’s corporate practice, while Marty Brimmage Jr., Mike Warnecke, Arnold Spencer and Sarah Teachout will join Akin’s litigation practice, according to a press release. Above the Law broke the news.
Haynes and Boone issued a statement confirming the move to Above the Law. “We are saddened to see these colleagues, many of whom started their careers here at Haynes and Boone, leave,” the statement said. “We wish them well and much success in their new firm.”
Reuters spoke with Kent Zimmerman of the legal consulting firm the Zeughauser Group for his take on the move. Many law firms are expanding in Texas, he said, because the energy sector is strong and many large corporations are based in the state. “Texas is one of the hottest markets in the country right now,” Zimmerman said.
