Seven former U.S. Supreme Court clerks will join Jones Day as associates in what appears to be a trend at the law firm.

Jones Day hired six Supreme Court clerks in 2012 and again in 2013, bringing to 19 the firm’s total number of SCOTUS clerk hires in three years, report The BLT: The Blog of Legal Times and a Jones Day press release. The new hires will join the firm’s issues and appeals practice.

The clerks worked for both conservative and liberal justices, and attended several different law schools. Two attended Yale Law School, while the others attended law schools at the University of Georgia, New York University, Brooklyn, Stanford and the University of Chicago.

Partner Beth Heifetz, who leads Jones Day’s issues and appeals practice, told The BLT that the firm is paying about $300,000 in hiring bonuses to each Supreme Court clerk hired this year, in addition to their regular pay.
