Updated: Law firms interested in reaching out to potential clients in online ventures are creating lots of new business for one California marketing company, but there are some notable late social-media bloomers.

Among the law firms that have Twitter pages—but have yet to make their first tweet—are Gibson Dunn & Crutcher and Latham & Watkins, the Los Angeles Business Journal reports. O’Melveny & Myers has an active Twitter account, but it doesn’t have a blog, the story says. Other firms without blogs include Gibson Dunn, Latham, Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith and Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker.

Latham, however, features podcasts on its website featuring its lawyers as experts. Sheppard Mullin has about a half-dozen blogs. And Quinn Emanuel founder and managing partner John Quinn has a personal Twitter account where he has posted news of his law firm, what he thinks is possibly the best hotel gym in the world and a recent dinner with his daughters.

Quinn told Above the Law about his initial feelings when he launched the Twitter account in May. “I am a little nervous about it, actually, and I suspect that many of my partners are terrified. But I am excited and think it’s going to be fun,” he said.

Also new to Twitter is Allen Matkins Leck Gamble Mallory & Natsis in Los Angeles. It also has a new blog, California Corporate & Securities Law by partner Keith Bishop and spends $60 a day on Google Adwords so that links to the blog appear when people search for phrases such as “corporate law,” the Business Journal story says.

Corrected at 2:15 p.m. to correctly indicate the firms have Twitter accounts, but no tweets have been made. Updated on Aug. 24 to reflect updates to law firm Twitter accounts.
