Prosecutors have charged a San Francisco lawyer with rape after four women told police he assaulted them when they answered his Craigslist ad for rough sex.

Prosecutors declined to charge 50-year-old Robert Michael Hoffman until receiving the fourth complaint, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. He is charged with assaulting three of the four women in incidents that took place in March, June and August. He is charged with rape, sexual battery, forced oral sex and one count of false imprisonment.

Accusations by the fourth woman, made last year, are still under review.

Hoffman, who also goes by the name Michael Robert Hoffman, practices employment law with an emphasis on sexual harassment cases, the story says.

Hoffman’s lawyer, Stuart Hanlon, told the Chronicle the sex was consensual. “His ad clearly said he was seeking dominant sex with submissive women,” Hanlon said. “It talked about getting controlled, getting hit and getting their hair pulled.”
