Sidley Austin expects to triple the size of its Singapore office within a few months, in anticipation of rapid growth over the next few years.

It is moving from a 4,800-square-foot office space to one that is more than 12,000 square feet, and, having hired four partners in recent months, is looking to have a 50-attorney roster in Singapore within three years, reports Legal Week.

Energy, life sciences and dispute resolution matters are among the work that is expected to keep lawyers there busy.

Sidley was just licensed to open a Singapore office in February, the article notes.

“We are just getting started,” Thomas Albrecht, who serves as the firm’s managing partner in Asia, told the legal publication. “We have been very focused on hiring at least one partner in certain practice sectors. We were fortunate that people we were really interested in were willing to make a move at this time. We anticipate making more opportunistic hiring in the near future.”
