Simpson Lawyer Hammers Witness for Call to TV Show
O.J. Simpson’s lawyer, Gabriel Falso, in a preliminary hearing yesterday zeroed in on a witness’s attempts to make money from the alleged armed robbery of sports memorabilia.
Dealer Bruce Fromong had testified he was expecting to meet with an anonymous buyer when Simpson and others arrived in the Las Vegas hotel room “in a military invasion fashion,” the Associated Press reports. Simpson maintains he was merely retrieving stolen items, and no guns were used. But Fromong testified that two of the men with Simpson had guns, the Washington Post reports.
During cross-examination, Fromong acknowledged he had called Entertainment Tonight to try to make money from the experience. He also said he had tried to sell items on eBay that he described as ”Identical to the items O.J. stole from me!”
Fromong testified he bought the Simpson items from Mike Gilbert, a former Simpson partner who had helped him sell memorabilia until the two had a falling out.
