A new remote access system will make it easier for lawyers at SNR Denton to work from home or on the go—but they may need to buy their own equipment.

The law firm will have a few pool laptops available, but staffers are encouraged to purchase their own, BBC News reports. Its story is headlined “BYOC: Should employees buy their own computers?”

The article notes that workers often have more modern and powerful equipment than the companies that employ them.

Information services director Neil Pamment told the BBC that under the old system, anyone who wanted to access more than e-mail needed an SNR Denton laptop. Now computer users can access applications remotely on their own computers using Citrix technology.

“You can use it from anywhere and people like working at home in an easy fashion,” Pamment told the BBC. “One quote [from a lawyer] was ‘super super impressed.’ “
