Nafissatou Diallo, the Sofitel Hotel housekeeper who claims that she was sexually assaulted by Dominique Strauss-Kahn, filed a New York Supreme Court complaint today against the former IMF chief, the Associated Press reports.

Strauss-Kahn was arrested in May, and he has pleaded not guilty to criminal charges of attempted rape and other crimes.

The civil complaint, filed in the Bronx, alleges that Strauss-Kahn “intentionally, brutally and violently sexually assaulted Ms. Diallo and in the process humiliated, degraded, violated and robbed Ms. Diallo of her dignity as a woman.”

Strauss-Kahn was freed from house arrest in July after prosecutors stated that they’d discovered things that cast doubt on Diallo’s credibility as a witness. Shortly afterward, Diallo, a Guinea native, revealed her identity in the media.

Strauss-Kahn’s lawyers asked Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. to dismiss the case, Reuters reports, while women’s and immigrant advocates have urged him to continue with the prosecution.
