For a number of attorneys in the three-state Atlantic coastal area known as Delmarva, golf isn’t the pastime that brings them together socially outside of work.

It’s surfing, reports the Daily Times.

It’s not unusual for them to start the day in wetsuits before changing into more standard courtroom attire. Meanwhile, the 62nd Street Longboarding Club, for example, routinely meets not in a wood-paneled historic building but on the beach off the Ocean City, Md., street of the same name.

Defense attorney Greg Coburn, 64, surfed in Hawaii before he became a lawyer, working as a bartender at night. He was introduced to the sport by fellow Ocean City practitioner Richard Parolski, and the two rode the waves together back in the day when both were working as seasonal police officers for the town.

“I surfed long before I was a lawyer,” Coburn tells the newspaper. “If you like it, you keep doing it.”
