Sotomayor Says White House Officials Chose Suit for Her Acceptance Ceremony
White House officials apparently prefer the color beige.
Justice Sonia Sotomayor told alumni and students at Yale Law School on Saturday that White House officials controlled the nomination process so tightly that they chose the suit she wore for her acceptance ceremony, the New Haven Register reports.
The media was not invited to attend Sotomayor’s speech. One of the attendees, Connecticut State Sen. Ed Meyer told the Register that Sotomayor said she had gone shopping for new clothes to wear for the ceremony, but government officials instead told her to bring five suits for them to choose from.
What was their choice?
According to the Wonkette blog, Sotomayor wore “a tasteful suit in a beige hue” for her swearing in on Aug. 8.
The Yale Daily News has more details of the speech. Sotomayor said the investigation into her background was so intrusive that an FBI agent investigated a parking ticket she had received two years before.
