South Carolina Supreme Court Suspends Lawyer for Slapping Defendant
In a ruling Monday, the South Carolina Supreme Court suspended the license of a Conway attorney for slapping a defendant during a deposition.
Conway, S.C.-based lawyer Richard M. Lovelace Jr. pleaded no contest to simple assault and was fined after he slapped a defendant in the face because he thought the defendant was being disrespectful, the Associated Press reports.
Lovelace, who reported the incident to the Office of Disciplinary Counsel, agreed to a suspension of up to 90 days and anger management classes.
