A waiter at TGI Friday’s who gave the finger to a prosecutor in the trial of Casey Anthony will have six days to consider his action.

Matthew Bartlett, 28, was found in contempt of court on Thursday and ordered to spend six days in jail, report FoxNews.com, MSNBC.com and the Orlando Sentinel. Judge Belvin Perry also ordered Bartlett to pay a fine of $400 and court costs of $223.

Bartlett said he makes about $15,000 a year as a waiter and has about $30 in his bank accounts. He has six months to pay. A public defender was appointed to defend him if he wants to appeal.

Bartlett apologized to the judge and said he didn’t know why he flipped the bird. “It was just a stupid thing I did,” he said. His fiancée told MyFoxOrlando.com that he thought the prosecutor was too hard on Casey Anthony.

The defense wrapped up its case Thursday, ABC News reports in a separate story analyzing the defense. Anthony did not testify. The story calls the decision “the most debated tactic of her defense team.”
