Corrected: Spencer Fane announced Monday that the 170-attorney firm is opening an Oklahoma City office, its first in the state, with at least 9 lawyers from the former Lester Loving & Davies.

Spencer Fane was able to extend the group’s existing lease, following the dissolution of the Lester firm, but will likely look for a larger space to allow additional expansion, reports the Kansas City Business Journal.

A law firm web page and news release provide more details about the lawyers in the new Oklahoma City office, who include a former state attorney general and a former federal magistrate judge.

“They’re a really accomplished group of folks who fit very nicely into a lot of our key practice groups,” Spencer Fane’s chair, Pat Whalen, told the Kansas City Business Journal. “Obviously, they have very strong backgrounds in labor and employment, environmental, and oil and gas litigation. They are extremely well-known and accomplished lawyers who will not just fit into our culture very well, but equally benefit our clients with their networks in Oklahoma.”

Headquartered in Kansas City, Spencer Fane also has offices in St. Louis, Springfield, Overland Park and Jefferson City, Missouri; Omaha, Nebraska; and Denver, Colorado, the Kansas City Star notes.
