Seven lawyers who left the Nelson Brown law firm last year have filed a lawsuit claiming they were never paid bonuses promised before their departure.

The lawyers left the insurance boutique that was then known as Nelson Levine de Luca & Hamilton in February 2014, the Legal Intelligencer (reg. req,) reports. Their suit, filed in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, says the bonuses were promised shortly before they left with a 14-lawyer group to start an office for Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith in Berwyn, Pennsylvania.

Nelson Brown continues to shrink, according to the story. It lost at least six partners in the past month, along with its executive vice president. The firm had about 75 lawyers at the beginning of 2014. Twenty-seven lawyers are currently listed on its website.

Nelson Brown chairman Michael Nelson offered no comment on the lawsuit in response to a request by the Legal Intelligencer; however, he did comment on the departures: “There is no question that as the firm changes and shifts its focus, that there will be changes in personnel,” he said in a statement.
