A lawsuit filed on Monday against Glen Campbell claims the singer violated an agreement to include a production company in development of a documentary chronicling his farewell tour and Alzheimer’s struggle.

The production group, the Record Company, says Campbell signed the contract in June 2011, about the same time he publicly acknowledged he had Alzheimer’s, the New York Times ArtsBeat blog and Deadline Hollywood report. The suit (PDF) says Campbell and his business partners violated the contract and breached a fiduciary duty when they excluded the Record Company from the making of the documentary, Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me.

The film is set to be released later this month.

According to Deadline Hollywood, the suit “raises serious legal questions about the validity of contracts signed by people with Alzheimer’s, which scholars consider a legal ‘gray area.’ ”

Campbell, 78, is currently in an Alzheimer’s care facility, according to the Times, citing an April report.
