Suit claims prostitution ban violates constitutional rights
A lawsuit filed in federal court last month claims California’s ban on prostitution violates the rights to equal protection and free speech.
The March 4 suit contends that engaging in consensual, paid sexual activity is a fundamental liberty interest, the Associated Press reports.
The suit was filed by the San Francisco-based Erotic Service Providers Legal, Education and Research Project, which raised $30,000 to file the suit and is seeking another $30,000 for the litigation.
