A man who reported for jury duty yesterday at the Brooklyn Supreme Court never made it to voir dire.

Vladislav Lisetskiy, 40, was arrested when officers in the courthouse security line discovered he was carrying an unusual weapon—“a trick cane that concealed a 2½-foot sword and a 6-inch dagger,” reports the New York Post.

Lisetskiy, who is a New York city government employee, apparently didn’t realize the sword-cane was illegal, the newspaper says. He was charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon, in accord with a state law that prohibits carrying a concealed blade or knife.
