Suspect in Brutal Attack on Ex-Law Student Trying to Sell BMW Is Killed in Police Shootout
Although he is still in coma, a former law student viciously attacked and stuffed into the trunk of a BMW he was trying to sell in New York last month reportedly may recover.
But the suspect in the attack on Akeem Ajimotokan will not. Identified as Barion Blake, an ex-con previously arrested for stealing BMWs, he was killed today in a shoot-out with police in Florida, reports the City Room blog of the New York Times.
Blake was initially tagged as a suspect after the stolen BMW rear-ended a taxicab in New York. The driver walked away, and police searching the vehicle found both Ajimotokan in the trunk, unconscious and tied up, and a bill of sale made out to Blake. Ajimotokan had been trying to sell the Beemer on the Internet.
Ajimotokan’s brother, Dr. Ayo Ajim, tells Times that the suspect’s death is something of a relief.
However, “it’s just so sad to know that we happen to be dealing with loss of life and a coma over a vehicle,” Ajim says. “The whole thing is so sad.”
