Suspects held in shooting of white-collar defense lawyer at home; police call it a botched robbery
Two suspects are in custody in the shooting last week of a white-collar criminal defense lawyer at his Michigan home and police are now calling the case a foiled robbery attempt.
Charges are expected Monday against the unidentified man and woman, one of whom was described by the Bloomfield Hills police chief as an “associate” of the victim, 57-year-old David Zacks, the Detroit News reports.
Zacks, who is a partner at Ishbia & Gagleard in Birmingham, Mich., remains hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds. He was shot through his front door Wednesday night when a man posing as a police officer rang the bell and unsuccessfully sought entry.
“We are not releasing details at this time, but it appears it was a botched robbery,” Chief David Hendrickson told the newspaper. “More details will be released once we determine how many other people might face charges.”
