Was actress Lindsay Lohan tipped off about a search warrant issued yesterday for her Venice, Calif., home? If she wasn’t, TMZ wonders, why would her assistant have returned a missing necklace to the Los Angeles Police Department rather than the jeweler from which Lohan says she borrowed it?

The question is one of a number being asked amidst news that the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office is considering whether to file a criminal case against Lohan after an investigation by the LAPD of the claimed theft of a unique $2,500 necklace from a Venice jeweler, according to the L.A. Now blog of the Los Angeles Times.

The 24-year-old is currently on supervised probation after a drunken-driving conviction and could be sent to jail, even if she is not convicted of any other crime, for failing to comply with required terms of her probation..

Lohan’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, didn’t respond to the newspaper’s requests for comment.
