Tax Prof Says Blog, ‘Saucy’ E-mails Would Nix Chances of White House Job

By Debra Cassens Weiss
University of Cincinnati law professor Paul Caron says the disclosure requirements for Obama administration hopefuls are so onerous that bloggers and “saucy” e-mailers like himself would find it difficult to comply.
Item 10 of the 63-item questionnaire requires Cabinet wannabes to provide a copy of all of their writings, including blog posts, Caron reports at TaxProf Blog. And the 13th question asks for a description of e-mails or other electronic communications that could be a possible source of embarrassment.
“Since I have made over 12,000 posts on TaxProf Blog, complying with this requirement would be an onerous chore,” he writes. “My saucy e-mails and text messages to my wife also would get me in trouble.”
The rest of Caron’s post deals with tax information that must be disclosed.

This MODE of screening REMINDS me of John Paul (“Jones”). Reburied at great EXPENSE as a U.S. Naval HERO, he would not actually be ADMITTED to your ACADEMY today, because his height, deportment, alcohol use, immoderate language and criminal record would not meet STANDARDS. BY this METHOD, we get CABINET MEMBERS, who, although they may put CLOTHING on STATUES, barely even know where they are STANDING. Too much FORM, not enough SUBSTANCE.

Not that I am considering it, but I think Public Service should be open to all qualified. We have allowed the self proclaimed “rightous” to rule this nation for too long. I for one would love to have a competent though saucy tax prof run the IRS or Treasury. Thank God Lincoln didn’t use this form to pick his Generals or We might all be thinking Jefferson Davis was the First President.

I think they should fully vet people. Look at all the scandals we’ve seen. People who manage to get through life without committing adultery, trading in kiddie porn, or accepting bribes should rise to the top of the list.

I’ve called for the impeachment of W for his most obvious of crimes. Would I be screened for being too saucy?
