The Golden State Warriors have cut veteran guard Charlie Bell after Bell showed up drunk at a hearing on a drunken driving case.

Bell, a former high school and college basketball star, was waived by the Warriors under a new amnesty provision, the Associated Press reports.

Last week, Bell, 32, was scheduled to appear in a Michigan courtroom in connection with an Oct. 21 drunken driving arrest near his hometown of Flint.

After failing to pass a sobriety test ahead of the court appearance, Bell was detained briefly on a bond violation.

He reappeared in court the next day, where he was placed on 18 months probation and fined $1,500, WNEM TV 5 reported.

Bell apologized for his behavior in a statement, attributing the drunken driving charge to a “breakup” in his family that he said he had dealt with “irresponsibly,” CSN Bay Area reported.
