A former U.S. litigation chief of a major United Kingdom-based law firm is joining Pepper Hamilton, along with three other Linklaters lawyers.

The move by Larry Byrne, an ex-federal prosecutor in New York and Washington, D.C. who focuses his practice on white-collar matters, underscores Pepper Hamilton’s growing emphasis on corporate investigations, Reuters reports.

A Thursday press release from Pepper Hamilton provides additional details.

Earlier this month, the firm named former FBI director Louis Freeh as its new chairman, as another Reuters article details.

Earlier this week, the firm announced that it had brought two ex-prosecutors with experience in sexual misconduct cases into its Philadelphia office as partners in its white-collar litigation and investigations practice group, as the Philadelphia Business Journal reports. Gina Maisto Smith and Leslie Marie Gomez most recently worked for Ballard Spahr.

Byrne, who joins Pepper Hamilton as a partner in its New York office, said his connection to Freeh, with whom he worked when both were federal prosecutors nearly two decades ago, prompted his move. He headed the U.S. litigation department of Linklaters from 2006 to 2011.
