It was a standard legal representation up to the point of receiving a $4,000 settlement check in a homeowner’s insurance case, according to two clients of Shelbyville, Tenn., attorney Burt English.

But when they went to pick up the check from his law office, contend Josh and Tasha Hendon, a female office worker blocked the door and English drew a gun on them, reports WSMV, an NBC affiliate in Nashville. The article explains that the Hendons say English had already been paid for his work, but it doesn’t state whether any additional legal costs or uncompleted paperwork might have been at issue in the alleged incident on Friday.

English declined to comment to the station, and accounts from the attorney and his office workers of what actually happened varied. No one but the Hendons contends that he pointed a gun at them, although two office workers confirmed that English had a gun, according to a police report.
