The presiding judge of a court in Austin, Texas, was injured on Friday when someone shot into her car as she returned home from a high school football game.

Judge Julie Kocurek of the 390th Judicial District Court was injured by glass shards and shrapnel, report the Austin American-Statesman, KVUE and KXAN. Prior coverage by the American-Statesman is here. She was hospitalized in stable condition.

Kocurek hears felony cases, including murder trials, and officials were reviewing past cases for possible suspects.

The driver of Kocurek’s car had to stop when arriving at the judge’s home because a bag of trash or garbage can had been placed in front of the security gate, police sources told the publications. The shooter fired after the driver got out of the car.

Lawyers and judges told the American-Statesman that Kocurek is one of the kindest judges on the bench and had a reputation for applying the law evenhandedly.

Corrected at 11:15 a.m. to state that Kocurek is presiding judge of the 390th Judicial District Court in Austin.
