A Texas law firm will be dissolving at the end of the year amid lawyer defections and partner retirements.

The firm, Shannon Gracey Ratliff & Miller, has operated for more than 80 years, report the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and Texas Lawyer. It lists offices in Fort Worth, Dallas, Arlington, Austin, Houston and Rhome.

The decision to dissolve the firm was disclosed in an emergency motion filed in a civil case by former Shannon Gracey lawyers, according to the Star-Telegram. Two former partners and one current partner confirmed plans to shutter the firm in an interview with Texas Lawyer.

A statement issued by Shannon Gracey managing partner Richard Lowe on Nov. 18 said some partners had retired and some lawyers had left for other opportunities. He said current partners were “considering a variety of options” and “no decisions have been formalized.”

But Shannon Gracey partner David Seidler of Fort Worth told Texas Lawyer that the firm is dissolving because of some “personalities” and ”some issues they couldn’t solve.”

“It’s very sad,” Seidler said. “The firm is very well respected, been around for 70, 80 years.”
