Texas Lawyers Warned About Scam Phone Calls

Texas lawyers beware: If you get a phone call reminding you to pay bar dues, it could be a scam.

The State Bar of Texas has warned its members that lawyers in at least two counties are getting phone calls from someone purporting to be from the “bar association” and seeking money, Texas Lawyer's Tex Parte Blog reports. The callers tell lawyers that their bar cards are expiring or they must pay their dues right away.

The standard warning applies: Don’t give out your credit card information to callers.
