Attorney Todd Friedman makes a living filing class actions over unwanted telephone communications.

So when the Los Angeles practitioner allegedly got unwanted auto insurance advertising texts on his own cellphone last month, he knew what to do, Legal Newsline reports.

First, he says, after he received this text:

“REMINDER: You still qualify for 19.00/Month Auto Insurance. Click Below. http://po.st/WTFIga. Reply STOP to stop or HELP for help.”

Then, he responded with “stop.” Then he retained counsel and filed a federal lawsuit under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, this time in the role of plaintiff. The suit seeks class action status.

Fellow Beverly Hills attorney Joseph Miskabi is representing him in the Central District of California case.
