This law firm has ousted Skadden from top spot in BigLaw brand survey
A law firm known for the number of its lawyers taking jobs with the Trump administration has claimed the No. 1 spot in a survey ranking the top BigLaw brands.
Jones Day took the No. 1 position for the first time since the Acritas U.S. Law Firm Brand Index was launched in 2012, according to press releases here and here, and a story by the Am Law Daily (sub. req.). Former top firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom fell to second place.
Firms in the top five spots are: Jones Day, Skadden, Baker McKenzie, Latham & Watkins, and (in a tie) DLA Piper and Hogan Lovells.
The biggest gains among firms in the top 20 were made by Ropes & Gray (jumping 26 places into a four-way tie for 13th place), Littler (jumping 17 places into the four-way tie for 13th place), and Dentons (jumping 11 places into 18th place).
The survey is based on data from a phone survey of 765 senior in-house counsel. The survey measures brand strength in these areas: top-of-mind awareness, favorability, consideration for top-level deals and litigation, overall usage among U.S.-based clients, and usage among international clients.
