'Thought leaders' and paradigm shifters, take note: This blogger is on to you

Ever heard that a law firm wants to hire team players? That could mean it is looking for those who are willing to keep quiet and put up with an egomaniacal partner.
That’s the conclusion of the Careerist, which lists 10 annoying lawyer clichés and provides its own translation. Some of the others:
• “You should be a thought leader.” The translation is that you have no original ideas, but with the right look and media training, you can be a real force in the industry.
• “We focus on best practices.” The translation is that the law firm has a poor record on diversity and has no idea how to remedy the problem.
• “There is a paradigm shift in the industry.” The translation is that you don’t have a chance of becoming an equity partner, despite billing 3,000 hours a year in the last decade.
