Morrison & Foerster has hired a team of three intellectual property lawyers from Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal, including a Sonnenschein practice group chair.

"Alexander Hadjis and Kristen Yohannan join as partners in Washington while Rudy Kim joins as partner in Palo Alto," reports the Lawyer. All three were also partners at Sonnenschein, where their profiles remained posted as of this afternoon.

At Sonnenschein, "Hadjis was firmwide chair of the patent litigation group, representing clients including Intel and Broadcom," reports Legal Week.

As both articles note, the 700-lawyer Chicago-based Sonnenschein laid off 37 lawyers and 87 staff earlier this year. MoFo, which was founded in San Francisco more than 100 years ago, has over 1,000 lawyers.

Steven Kaufmann, who is global chair of MoFo's litigation department, says the firm is particularly excited about expanding its IP team in Washington, D.C.
