In a sign that litigation and legal wranglings may outlive the popular reality show Jon & Kate Plus 8, TLC has sued Jon Gosselin for breach of contract.

ABC News reports that the lawsuit, filed today in Maryland, claims Gosselin hasn’t met the obligations of his contract as an exclusive employee, has appeared on other programs for profit and made unauthorized disclosures about the show.

“The network has been trying privately and patiently for months to get Jon to honor the contract he signed and to comply with his obligations relating to public appearances and statements,” TLC spokeswoman Laurie Goldberg said in a statement to ABCNews.com. “Those efforts have been unsuccessful.”

TLC has retained D.C.-based Williams & Connolly to pursue the breach of contract claim.

Meanwhile, the future plans for Kate Plus 8, is in doubt. Jon Gosselin has reportedly forbidden the network from filming any new footage of his children.

Jon & Kate Plus 8 will be finished in mid to late November,” TLC’s Goldberg has told ABCNews.com.

The Gosselins are in the midst of sensational divorce proceedings, with each development playing out in the media.
