Before a federal judge could hold a scheduled hearing on Monday, the top court in Pennsylvania has acceded to some of the demands made in an unusual federal filing by lawyers representing individuals allegedly jailed improperly as juveniles because of judicial corruption in Luzerne County.

In an order today, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court mandates the preservation of juvenile records concerning about 400 youths who have sued one senior judge, reports the Associated Press.

However, the order doesn’t cover additional juvenile records for individuals who aren’t currently plaintiffs but could be included in the case if it is certified as a class action, the news agency notes. Lawyers for the plaintiffs want those records preserved, too.
